The State of Florida requires all companies repairing or replacing garage doors to have a Contractor’s License. Occupational Licenses are not sufficient! Choose a company that displays their license # in their advertising and on their vehicles. State License #’s begin with CRC, CBC, or CGC. “Licensed & Insured” in advertising usually means Occupational License only!

The Bait & Switch

Beware of “bait & switch” gimmicks where companies will quote you a low price over the phone but raise the price substantially when they come to your home (see our “testimonials” page). Write down exactly what is told to you on the phone, and show the person when they arrive that you have done your homework. Keep in mind that some factors do affect the price of the job that can’t be determined until a service call is performed. Some of these factors include door size, ceiling height, wind rating, or unusually difficult installations and may alter the estimate that is given via the telephone. Don’t confuse options and extended warranties as being part of the bait & switch. Legitimate companies will quote you a price of a standard job, but will give options such as windows, insulation, extended warranties, upgrades, etc.
