There are many different grades of torsion springs. DGD carries high-cycle galvanized springs to provide the longest life of any spring available. Galvanized springs resist rust to prolong the spring life, and decrease the required maintenance. In addition to being galvanized, our springs are also high-cycle. High-cycle springs are larger in diameter and longer than "standard-cycle" springs. Our springs are rated for 50,000 to 100,000 cycles, with open and close being one cycle. The average family uses the door three cycles per day, meaning you could expect 50+ years of service from our springs. The larger size puts less strain on the spring as it works, providing an average of five times more life than our competitors. Don't be fooled by the companies that tell you on the phone that their spring has a lifetime warranty. There are many factors that contribute to spring life, including the condition of other door parts, maintenance, and amount of use. Only after a complete exam of the door can a true warranty be applied. These companies are usually only in business for short periods of time, and will tell you anything to sell you their product.
